The Mardi Himal Trek is one of the most popular trekking route and hidden treasure in the Annapurna Himalaya Region. This trek is the best destination to make close view of the popular mountain Mt. The trek starts from Kande after 1 hours driving from Pokhara. The trail is good, first slowly walk uphill, then a bit steeper to Australian Camp (2060m) (About one hour), then after that slightly downhill to Pothana (1950m) then up again to Deurali (2100m).

There is a right turn in Deurali sign posted call “Forest Camp” the trail is goes through the jungle, at first up then rolling on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m).

The trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. The trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, but the trees soon start to get smaller and after about one hours trekking broke out of the jungle and onto the open ridge with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to the left.

It is possible to continue trekking along the ridge for another 4 to 5 hours to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and return to Low Camp in around 4 hours – This makes a long day but there is also a view point in about half way, the imaging view can be seen from here. After that, we return all the way down to Siding Village. When we arrive at Siding, you can explore huge chicken farm. After breakfast, you will drive by Jeep to Pokhara to end your trek.

Mardi Himal Trek - 9 Days Detailed Itinerary

1Day

Arrival at Kathmandu Airport & transfer to Hotel

Flying into Kathmandu on a crystal clear day is itself a truly breathtaking experience. The views of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below you are almost ecstatic, & begin a whole sequence of memorable experiences that stay with you for a real long time. Upon arrival, a representative and driver from our office will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Our team will assist you with check-in process and provide an orientation about your daily activities. This will be your first overnight stay in the city of temples.

2Day

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara by tourist bus

The long drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara is a scenic journey which offers breathtaking views, terraced hillside, rolling and rural villages that follows Trishuli and Marsyangdi rivers. The path gives Nepal's village life along with views of distant mountains, which makes the journey beautiful itself.

Upon reaching Pokhara, trekkers are welcomed by a relaxed lakeside atmosphere and scenic views of the Annapurna range. Trekkers can spend theirs rest of the day exploring beautiful Pokhara.

3Day

Drive from Pokhara to Kande and trek to Pothana/Deurali

We continue the journey with a scenic drive from Pokhara to Kande, enjoying views of terraced fields and hills along the way. Upon reaching kande, we start our trek form here with steady uphill climb through lush forests and stone steps, then becomes steeper as we climb to Australian Camp (2,060 m) in about an hour. After an early lunch, the path descends slightly to Pothana (1,950 m), where we complete the ACAP/TIMS checkpoint formalities. The trail then climbs again through forested paths to Deurali . Overnight stay at a lodge in Deurali.

4Day

Trek from Pothana/Deurali to Low Camp

There is a right turn in Deurali signposted “Forest Camp” the trail is through jungle, at first up then undulating on the top of a ridge, there is a section just over half way where the trail drops steeply and then slowly gains height and then back onto the ridge and into Forest Camp (2600m) after about 4 hour trekking. There are now few lodges in Forrest Camp. Simple but clean so again a good choice. After lunch the trail is initially quite steep leaving Forest Camp but soon gets less steep as you again get upon the ridge. From Forest Camp trekking through more jungle with occasional glimpses of Annapurna South before getting into Low Camp (3150m) after around 3 hours. Although there are few lodges in Low camp, the lodges are very simple.

5Day

Trek from Low Camp to High Camp

The trail leaves Low Camp again in jungle, but the trees soon start to get smaller and after about one hours trekking broke out of the jungle and onto the open ridge with spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to the left. The trail then undulates along the ridge and after about 3 hours trekking we arrived at High Camp (3700m) and then overnight at Lodge.

6Day

Excursion Hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp and return to Low Camp

We set out early in the morning, following the ridge trail for a spectacular 4–5 hour hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4,500 m). The route offers stunning mountain views, with a scenic viewpoint located about halfway along the trail. After spending time at base camp, we descend back to High Camp in around 4 hours for lunch, then continue downhill to Low Camp. This is a long but highly rewarding day. Overnight stay at a lodge in Low Camp.

7Day

Trek from Low Camp to Siding Village and drive to Pokhara

On this day, the trek from Low Camp descends through dense forests and peaceful alpine landscapes toward Siding village, one of the largest and most traditional settlements in the area. The trail passes through rhododendron and bamboo forests, offering a quieter and more authentic trekking experience. After reaching Siding Village, we take a scenic drive back to Pokhara, end of the trek.

8Day

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu by tourist bus

While driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you go up to Damauli, Dumre, Mugling and Kurintar where Nepal’s first Cable car is operated to reach Manakamana (wishes) Temple. In route, you could enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and see the local folks happily engaged in their daily life activities. From Naubishe, you climb up to Thankot, gateway to the capital city of Kathmandu. You can also fly from  Pokhara to Kathmandu which takes about 25 minutes.

In the evening, the company will organize a farewell dinner with cultural program, where you will meet with the team of your trek for the last time.

9Day

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Home

As we have successfully completed the trip, it is time to return home or embark on your next journey. Even you can join our next adventures trips in the Himalayas if you wish too. If not, our airport team will take care of your airport escort and say you our last goodbye till the next adventure holidays.

The price of the trip is depence on services you take from us so that we have plenty of options on Add Ons section such Helicopter, Porters, Private Transport, Extra Guides and so on.

We suggest you to hire a porter to carry your bag pack while on the trek, trekking with a light day pack is much easier and you enjoy your trekking holidays to the fullest. A trekking porter carries about 20-25Kg (about 10-12Kg from each of you) and we suggest you to hire a one porter for two trekkers.

If you don’t want to spend an entire day on the road, skip the 8-9hrs bus ride from Kathmandu to Pokhara then choose a short scenic flight instead of long driving just with $120. You can utilize your saving valuable time to explore the beautiful city of Pokhara instead of sitting on a long drive. The airfare includes free domestic airport pickup and drop off. You can also add the return flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu with same price.

Don't want to take a long bus ride? No worries, you can travel comfortably from Kathmandu to Pokhara in a private car for an additional cost. Enjoy a relaxed journey at your own pace, with required stops to admire the scenery along the way. This option is extra benefit for a small groups, you can share the car fare amongst the four travelers. You can also add the return journey from Pokhara to Kathmandu at the same price.

Do you need accommodation for extra nights in Kathmandu and in Pokhara? You can add hotel stays at a (2-3) - star hotel with breakfast included. The cost is $ 50 per night for a single room and $ 55 per night for a double room.

Essential Information

Meals/Foods:

During our trek, you can enjoy authentic Nepalese food as well the more common international cuisine such Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc. Usually breakfast and dinner will be provided from the teahouse or from a lodge menu where we spend the night, whereas lunch will be provided on the way to the next destination. All meals, including breakfast, lunch and dinner, will be provided during trekking while only breakfast will be available in Kathmandu and in Pokhara. There will also be farewell dinners with our team at the end of your trip.

Accommodations/Hotels:

You will be accommodated in standard hotels in Kathmandu and in Pokhara and teahouses during the trek. Hotel Kathmandu Suite Home or similar in Kathmandu and Dahlia Boutique Hotel or similar in Pokhara. All accommodations are on twin-shared basis. Single supplement will be served on request and will cost an additional USD 250. Higher Limits will book the best available teahouses during the trek but understand that the trails of Mardi Himal Trek are not as frequented by tourists as the Annapurna and Everest regions. Therefore, the guesthouse facilities will be very basic. Also note that single rooms are readily available in Kathmandu and in Pokhara but it might be difficult to find them during the trek.

Electricity:

Almost everywhere available electricity on this trekking routes but still please be prepare with 2pin plug, power bank, spare batteries and head lamp etc.

Acclimatization:

Keep in mind that you will be passing above 4000m during the journey to Mardi Himal Trek. Walking fast at such elevation could lead to medical complications (Acute Mountain Sickness) which could be serious. There is less oxygen compared to sea level in high-altitudes places. The higher, altitude will be the less oxygen in air. Although we provide information regarding AMS insurance, the only option for treatment is descending (evacuation). We advise that clients with known heart, lung or blood diseases, or clients over the age of 60 make sure to discuss with their doctor before traveling with us.
