The Royal Trek is one of those short and easy treks that can truly be called a relatively ‘soft hike,’ making it enjoyable for people of all age groups. For children, it’s ideal if they are 10 years and above, as they would absolutely love the sense of adventure and discovery this trek offers. The trek is called the Royal Trek because it was first explored by the Prince of Wales, who ventured through this picturesque region. It is also widely recognized as the Annapurna Skyline Trek due to the breathtaking mountain vistas it provides.

3Day

Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara

This takes about six hours. You depart early morning at 7 o’clock for the six hours drive by tourist deluxe bus to Pokhara (915m,), 200 kilometers west of Kathmandu. As you climb out of the Kathmandu valley, only to quickly descend again to the Trisuli River, you follow upstream to its junction with the Marsyangdi River. You follow the Marsyangdi gently up through heavily terraced fields and small hill towns to the Seti River that takes you directly into Pokhara. Blessed with pleasant weather, Pokhara is tourist’s paradise with full of natural as well as cultural heritage sites such as lakes, caves, temples of Buddhist and Hindus along with snowcapped mountains. You can observe views to the north across the hills and Phewa Tal (lake) to the white peaks of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This drive will take most of the morning, leaving much of your afternoon to fall in love with its beauty. You can also fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara which takes about 25 minutes.

4Day

Drive from Pokhara to Bijayapur Khola (Bijayapur Army Camp) and trek from Bijaypur Khola to Kalikasthan

This takes about three hours. A broad trail begins through rice fields near the Army Camp, and then ascends through Rakhigaon to a Chautara, a resting place under a large pipal tree. On the way, you can enjoy the views that are a delight to the eyes. The trail now climbs gently along a ridge top through the Brahmin and Chhetri villages towards Kalikasthan (1370m.). At the end, you will need to climb for a short distance to the campsite which is situated above the village with panoramic views of glistening mountains, Begnas Tal {lake} and Pokhara city.

5Day

Trek from Kalikastha to Lipeyani

This would take approx five and half hours. The trails follow along the forested ridge top through a rugged motor able road passing through Thulokot and Majhthana (1220m.). Your trail then begins to climb gently for some distance and winds through Naudanda. Towards the end, you can descend gently towards Lipeyani. From hereabouts, you will witness amazing views of Machhapuchhre, Annapurna ranges, Lamjung Himal and Manasalu.

6Day

Trek from Lipeyani to Chisopani

This takes approximately six hours. The trails cut through a motor able road for some distance and start to climb gently for some time. Then you begin a flat hike to Shaklung (1250m.), a Gurung village. Your trek continues to follow along the broad motor able road passing through forests and you then reach Ramkot at (1030m.), you then descend steeply to cross road named Sarka Bhanjyang (870m.). After this, your trail climbs steeply through stone staircase and into chestnut forests to the Mohariya Bhanjyang (1130m.). You then continue to climb gently towards Chisopani village, home to the Gurung community. Your stay is about 50 meters above the village. From here, you get to enjoy the beautiful views of different mountains as well as green hills and terraces.

7Day

Trek from Chisopani to Begnas Tal Bazaar

This, we reckon, takes about five and half hours. From Chisopani Danda, you descend along the ridge for an hour or so and descend steeply along the stone steps, into a small valley and stream that feeds Rupa Taal. You Continue for a short distance through rice fields, and then make a final ascent to the ridge that separates Begnas Taal and Rupa Taal. This ridge is called Sundari {beautiful} Danda at (720m.) which relevantly means pretty Hills. From these hills, your trek continues climbing gently and descends into Begnas Taal Bazaar. From here, you can take a vehicle to get back to Pokhara.

8Day

Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu

While driving from Pokhara to Kathmandu, you go up to Damauli, Dumre, Mugling and Kurintar where Nepal’s first Cable car is operated to reach Manakamana {wishes} Temple.
