Gopal Shrestha is the Founder and Managing Director of Higher Limits Trek & Expedition Pvt. Ltd., with more than two decades of experience in Nepal’s tourism and adventure travel industry. Since beginning his career in 2002, he has dedicated himself to providing safe, memorable, and professionally organized trekking and touring experiences across the Himalayas of Nepal, Tibet, and Bhutan.
Gopal’s journey in the tourism industry began at the grassroots level as a porter. Having personally completed numerous treks as a porter, he gained firsthand knowledge of the Himalayan trails, mountain environments, local communities, and the challenges faced by trekkers and support teams. This experience became the foundation of his professional career and helped him progress step by step from porter to trekking guide, tour manager, and eventually Managing Director.
Over the years, Gopal has organized and managed treks and tours across many of the major Himalayan routes. His extensive field experience, combined with his strong commitment to safety and client satisfaction, has enabled him to successfully lead and support clients on high-altitude journeys, including routes reaching above 5,000 meters. His practical knowledge of the mountains allows him to carefully assess trail conditions, altitude challenges, weather, and the needs of individual travelers.
Before establishing Higher Limits Trek & Expedition Pvt. Ltd., Gopal served as a Tour and Trek Manager with a reputed trekking company, where he gained valuable experience in managing international clients, coordinating trekking teams, and overseeing complex travel operations.
Gopal has also been actively involved in the development of Nepal’s trekking and tourism sector. He served as an Executive Board Member of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) from 2017 to 2019, contributing his experience and knowledge to the professional trekking industry and its wider development.
Throughout his career, Gopal has successfully completed several trekking and mountaineering training courses, further strengthening his technical knowledge and understanding of mountain safety and adventure tourism. He continues to explore different regions of Nepal and takes a particular interest in discovering and introducing new trekking routes and experiences for travelers.
Known for his friendly nature, honesty, loyalty, sincerity, and strong work ethic, Gopal has built lasting relationships with clients, guides, staff, and tourism professionals from around the world. His positive attitude, extensive field experience, and enthusiasm for exploring the Himalayas continue to drive his vision for Higher Limits Trek & Expedition.
