Visit Nepal Year 2020 campaign officially inaugurated

KATHMANDU: The much awaited National Campaign “Visit Nepal Year 2020” campaign officially inaugurated by the President Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari on January 1, 2020 by lighting the “Flame of Unity” and unveiling the mascot of the VNY Yeti. The VNY 2020 is being observed as a national festival with a target to bring in 2 million tourists, and with a determination to establish tourism sector as the major foundation of Nepal’s economic prosperity. Speaking in the inaugural ceremony, President Bhandari urged all for building better cooperation and contribution to make the national campaign a grand success stating that such event helps achieve the goal of economic prosperity in the country.

In his welcome remarks, honorable Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Yogesh Bhattarai said that the VNY 2020 was only an entry point and that the government was preparing to observe the coming decade as the tourism decade. He also asked the people to welcome the Visit Nepal Year (VNY) by enlightening their houses and to express their solidarity in the national campaign. “The brightness of the lights will give a message of our new journey,” he added.

Higher Limits Trek & Expedition Pvt.Ltd. (HLT) team led by owner (Managing Director) Mr. Gopal Shrestha participated in the March pass where tourism stakeholders & related associations, social organizations, Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Forces made a special presentation. Renowned musical bands of Nepal also performed on the occasion.

Hundreds of foreign delegates, including tourism ministers from India, China, Myanmar and Jamaica participated in the inauguration ceremony of national campaign VNY. Meanwhile, the campaign was also inaugurated in all seven provinces of Nepal in the same day & same time.
