KATHMANDU, 28 March 2020: Khumbu Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality and Hotel Association Lukla decided to provide free food and accommodation for stranded tourists in Nepal who have been stuck in Lukla due to the lock down.
There were more than 125 tourists who have been stuck in Lukla, the gate way of popular trekking routes of Nepal “Everest Base Camp“. There are many tourists who have been on stuck in different trekking destination of Nepal after lock down the country.
The governments of Nepal have strictly locked down the country since 24th March 2020 to fight against Covid 19 (Novel Corona Virus) that recently spreading around the world.
According to Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) three different groups of tourists rescued today 60pax from Jomsom (Annapurna Trekking Region), 14pax from Lukla (Everest Trekking Region) & 58pax from Pokhara with joint coordination of Nepal Government and their embassies respectively. Many of them are still left & returning to Kathmandu tomorrow.
