The Mera Peak climbing, perhaps the highest peak climbing of Nepal among the other permitted trekking peaks, rises to the south of Everest and dominates the divide between wild and greatly wooded valleys of the Hinku and Hongu Drangkas and is not truly speaking part of the Khumbu Himal. It should also be noted that there is a discrepancy between the official height given by the NMA (6654m) and the Schneider Map (6476m).
By its normal route from the Mera La, the climb is technically straightforward; however, after a heavy fall of snow or when the maze of crevasses are open, the way can be long and challenging. Far and above the most rewarding aspect of a trip to Mera Peak is a chance to venture into a little-visited region of Nepal where the hillsides are still thickly forested and a need to be independent is important. There is also, of course, the pleasure of going above 6000m.There are many approaches to Mera Peak climbing none are easy and some require the crossing of high and difficult passes, making a trek to the peak a real mountaineering adventure for which effort is rewarded with spectacular scenery and ultimately one of the finest viewpoints in Nepal.

ACCLIMATIZATION:
Keep in mind that you will be passing over 5000m/16400ft and reaching at 6654m during the journey to the top of the Mera Peak. Walking fast at such elevation could lead to medical complications (Acute Mountain Sickness) which could be serious. There is less oxygen compared to sea level in high-altitudes places. The higher, altitude will be the less oxygen in air. Your body needs a days to acclimatize to this environment, which is why we will stop a day rest in Annapurna Base Camp. Although we provide information regarding AMS insurance, the only option for treatment is descending (evacuation). We advise that clients with known heart, lung or blood diseases, or clients over the age of 50 to discuss with their doctor before traveling with us.
Symptoms of AMS include mild to severe headaches, dizziness, fever, loss of appetite or stomach pain; it is important to alert our staff if you are feeling poorly to ensure that illness does not progress. .
HEALTH & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The Mera Peak Climbing involves five to seven hours walking per day and Ice climb during the climbing. However, it is some part of this trip at very high altitude which will take a physical toll. There are no special physical or training requirements, but if you have high altitude experience & trekking is a benefit.
