The Langtang Valley & Goshainkunda Lake Trek commences with an overland journey to the small town of Dunche, the main trading post of the area. From here we spend four days hiking up through this beautiful alpine valley to Kyangjin where we rest for a day for some exploration of the high mountains and glacial systems. We Track back for three days before a journey to the sacred lakes of Gosaikund a major pilgrimage sight for both Hindus and Buddhists. We cross the Laurebina pass (4600m) and drop into the lush Helambu region and get first hand experiences of different cultural lifestyles. We eventually finish the trek and head back for an hours drive to Kathmandu. A very rewarding trek in an area very less used.

1Day

Arrival at Kathmandu Airport & transfer to Hotel

Flying into Kathmandu on a crystal clear day is itself a truly breathtaking experience. The views of snow-capped mountain peaks sprawling down below you are almost ecstatic, & begin a whole sequence of memorable experiences that stay with you for a real long time. Upon arrival, a representative and driver from our office will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. Our team will assist you with check-in process and provide an orientation about your daily activities. This will be your first overnight stay in the city of temples.

2Day

Sightseeing Tour in Kathmandu Valley and making permit

Kathmandu, is the historical heart of Nepal, has been a popular destination for tourists ever since the country opened its borders to outside world. The city presents a wonderful combination of Hinduism, Tibetan Buddhism and Western influence in the Valley. Patan and Bhaktapur, its two prime neighboring cities bear immense historical, cultural and religious significances.

We will arrange a professional tour guide for you and a private tourist vehicle with a driver to explore between monuments. The tour guide will take you to UNESCO World Heritage Sites such Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath and Boudhanath Stupa, the historical and cultural sites you’ll visit today. Offering panoramic views of the valley.

After completion of your day tour, you will be having meeting with your trek guide at our office/hotel. He will brief you about the Trek and all the essentials. The Thamel has many trekking gear shops, where you can buy missing gear in the late evening and get ready for the jeep driving to Syabru Bensi.

3Day

Drive from Kathmandu to Syabru Besi

After breakfast, we drive from kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of your Langtang Valley journey. We will pass through the terraced hillsides, rushing rivers, traditional villages and distant mountain views. As we leave the city behind, the scenery gradually becomes more rural and serene. Syabrubesi, a small riverside town, marks the gateway to the Langtang region and offers a perfect place to relax and prepare for the trek ahead.

4Day

Trek from Syabru Besi to Lama Hotel

We begin our trek from Syabru Bensi, following the trail alongside the Langtang Khola. We cross through the dense bamboo groves, lush forests and peaceful riverside trails, and offers a natural walking experience. You can see the beautiful mountains along the way. After approximately walking for six hours, you reach the destination Lama Hotel, a quiet settlement surrounded by forested hills and an ideal place to rest and enjoy the stunning mountain atmosphere.

5Day

Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang village

Continuing the trek form Lama Hotel, the route gradually ascends through beautiful forests of rhododendron and pine alongside the Lnagtang River. The trail offers a peaceful walk with chances of spotting wildlife such as red pandas and langurs. We will pass through small villages of Sherpa and Tamang communities, where you can see colorful prayer flags and traditional mani walls reflect the Buddhist culture. By the end of the day, you will arrive at Langtang Village, where you will stay overnight. 

6Day

Trek from Langtang village to Kyangjin Gompa

We continue our trek from Langtang Village, today is a short and gentle walk and also considered one of the most scenic days of the journey. The route walk us through the yak pastures and traditional Buddhist monuments, including prayer wheels and chortens. As we gain elevation, the views of Langtang Lirung and the surroundings peaks become more impressive. 

By the time you reach Kyanjin Gompa, a beautiful monastery village surrounded by towering mountains and glaciers. In the afternoon, you will have time to explore the valley, visit the famous Kyanjin Cheese Factory, or take a short hike to nearby viewpoints for stunning panoramic views of the Langtang range. It is a dramatic setting with snowy peaks surrounding you in all directions. Stay overnight at your lodge.

7Day

After early Breakfast hiking to Kyanjin Ri

After an early breakfast, we begin our hike from Kyanjin Gompa to Kyanjin Ri. The trail climbs steadily over rocky paths and alpine terrain, slowing gaining elevation. As we climb highers, the surrounding landscape opens up, offering breathtaking views of the Langtang Valley, glaciers and surronding Himalayan peaks.

Upon reaching the summit of Kyanjin Ri, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of Langtang Lirung, Yala Peak, Dorje Lakpa, and the surrounding snow-covered mountains. After spending time enjoying the views and taking photographs, we descend back to Kyanjin Gompa, where the rest of the day can be spent relaxing or exploring the village at a leisurely pace.

8Day

Trek from Kyangjin Gompa to Lama Hotel

After having breakfast, we begin our return trek form Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel, descending through the Langtang Valley. The path leads us back through the Langtang Village and through lush forests and peaceful bamboo groves, retracing the familiar paths crossed earlier in the journey. Walking downhill a peaceful and realxed journey. By the afternoon, we arrive at Lama Hotel, a quiet riverside settlement with cozy teahouses, where we will rest for the night. 

9Day

Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru

After breakfast, we continue our trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru. Here the path gradually ascends through dense forest of pine, rhododendron, and oak, following the Langtang Khola upstream. We will pass through small villages, several suspension bridges, and occasional views of mountains.You retrace your steps to Thulo Syabru, and then follow a steep path through forest which brings in to the view Syabru and its extensive area of millet terraces. A surging path brings you to this fascinating village. Stay overnight at a lodge.

10Day

Trek from Thulo Syabru to Shing Gompa

After breakfast, we continue our trek from Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa, today is a scenic day with challenging walk, as the route invloves a steep and continuous ascent through dense forests of fir, oak and rhododendron. The forest path is peaceful, and during spring the rhododendron blooms create a colorful landscape. 

As we move forwards, we reach the top of a ridge where we can enjoy the stunning views of the surroundings valleys and hills. From here, it is only a short descent to reach Sing Gompa, a quite village also known as Chandanbari. Sing Gompa is fomous for a local yak cheese factory and for its Buddhist Monastery. Here trekkers explore and learn about traditional cheese production. Stay overnight at a local lodge in Sing Gompa. 

11Day

Trek from Shing Gompa to Gosaikunda

From Sing Gompa you climb a ridge to the main Gosainkund trail. There are good views across Langtang valley to Langtang Lirung. To the west there are dramatic views of the Ganesh Himal and Manaslu. Eventually, the trail descends from the ridge to the first of three lakes, Saraswati Kund. The second lake in the chain is named Bhairab Kund, and the third, Gosainkund. This lake is particularly sacred and a place of pilgrimage in the summer. According to legend, this lake was created by Shiva when he pierced a glacier with his trident to obtain water, quenching his thirst after taking some poison. We explore the lakes and enjoy the peaceful high-mountain environment. Overnight stay at a lodge in Gosaikunda. 

12Day

Trek from Gosaikunda to Ghopte

We leave Gosaikunda behind and head towards Ghopte, the trail is most challenging part of the trek because we have cross the Laurebina La Pass (4610 m) , the highest point of this trek. The trail gradually ascends through rocky terrain, rugged, and passing several smaller alpine lakes such as Bhairab Kunda, Surya Kunda and Saraswati kunda, each of them are surrounded by dramatic high-altitude landscapes and prayer flags. 

The climbs continues until we reach Laurebina La Pass, from the pass we can enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu range, and surronding Himalayan peaks. From Laurebina La Pass, the trail gradually descends into Helambu region, passing through rhododendron and alpine meadows forests. After few hours of descent, we reach our destination Ghopte, a small forest settlement with basic lodges.Stay overnight at a lodge in Ghopte. 

13Day

Trek from Ghopte to Melamchi Gaon via Tharepati Pass

The first part of the trail slightly descends and then begins to ascend through the rhododendron forests until Thearepati and then you trek goes in descending order. Before climbing to Tharepati, a group of herders’ huts at 3579m, you cross a stream after coming through rhododendron, oak and juniper forests. From Tharepati, the trail gradually descends through pine and rhododendron forest with good views down into the Helambu valley and across to Jugal Himal and Numbur in the Solu Khumbu. Melamchi Gaon is surrounded by beautiful forests, which is mainly inhabited by Sherpa people with their unique culture. There are situated some Buddhist monasteries. Stay overnight at your lodge.

14Day

Trek from Melamchi Gaon to Tarkeghyang

We leave behind Melamchi Gaon and mover towards Tarkeghyang, early the trail gently descends through forest and terraced fields until we cross the Melamchi Khola. After crossing the stream, the trail gently ascends through Sherpa settlements, where we can observe a local village lifestyle. 

As we continue our trek uphill, we reach Tarkeghyang, a charming and culturally rich village famous for its traditional Sherpa architecture and mountain lifestyle. Tarkeghyang is a home to one of the largest and oldest monasteries in the Helambu region. Upon arriving, we explore the village and relax at our lodge.

15Day

Trek from Tarkeghyang to Shermathang

This it takes about five hours. This day the trail is quite easier through flat land with beautiful forests on the way. You hike on crossing some small streams on the way. There is situated a beautiful village on the half way to Shermathang. Shermathang is another pretty Sherpa village where you can visit many ancient monasteries. Here you can see Jugal Himal range at the north face of Shermathang village. Stay overnight at your lodge.

16Day

Trek from Shermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazaar

We continue our trek from Semathang to Melamchi Pul Bazar, the trail gently descends passing through beautiful meadows, traditional hillside, cultivated fields, which offers pleasant walking and scenic views. We cross several old traditional villages, where we can see local village lifestyles, traditional and unique customs. As we continue descending after few hous we reach Melamchi Pul Bazaar, a lively riverside town. Stay overnight at a lodge in Melamchi Pul Bazar.

17Day

Drive from Melamchi Pul Bazaar to Kathmandu.

Today is the last day of our trekking journey we head back to Kathmandu from Melamchi Pul Bazar by jeep. The drive follows the Melamchi River valley and gradually climbs out of the hills toward Kathmandu Valley, passing through small towns, terraced farmlands, and rural villages. As we approach Kathmandu, the landscapes slowly transfer from rural hills to the bustling city environment. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will transfered to your hotel. 

In the evening, the company will organize a farewell dinner with cultural program, where you will meet with the team of your trek for the last time.

18Day

Transfer to airport for your flight to home.

As we have successfully completed the trip, it is time to return home or embark on your next journey. Even you can join our next adventures trips in the Himalayas if you wish too. If not, our airport team will take care of your airport escort and say you our last goodbye till the next adventure holidays.

We suggest you to hire a porter to carry your bag pack while on the trek, trekking with a light day pack is much easier and you enjoy your trekking holidays to the fullest. A trekking porter carries about 20-25Kg (about 10-12Kg from each of you) and we suggest you to hire a one porter for two trekkers.

Essential Information

Meals / Food:

Every day’s Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner is included in the package during the trek. This will be a dish of Nepali, Indian or Continental source cooked by the lodging you stay at.

Accommodations / Hotels:

The whole trekking is tea house trekking which means we will stay at simple Tea House Lodge accommodation during the trek which will be wood and stone houses with outside toilet and bathroom mostly.

Electricity:

Almost everywhere available electricity on this trekking routes but still please be prepare with 2pin plug, power bank, spare batteries and head lamp etc.

Health and Experience Required:

This trekking involves five to seven hours walking per day. However, it is some part of this trek at very high altitude, which will take a physical toll. There are no special physical or training requirements, but high altitude experience & walking is a benefit.
