16 March 2019 KATHMANDU: Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) an umbrella organization of 1800 trekking entrepreneurs organized a welcome and felicitation program for two newly appointed Board Members of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) Ms. Pamfa Dhamala and Mr. Biplab Poudel on March 12, 2019 at TAAN Secretariat.
On behalf of TAAN executive committee and its general members, TAAN President Mr. Nava Raj Dahal offered congratulations to both appointees who would be representing the interest of private sector in NTB. Raising the issue of Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) with new NTB Board Members, he urged to take required initiations for effective implementation of Group TIMS while eliminating TIMS card for FIT. He also suggested to re-drafting the existing Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on TIMS between TAAN and NTB.
President Dahal also made a request to call a joint meeting with local body of Solukhumbu Rural Municipality about TIMS implementation. President underlined NTB’s cooperation vital to fulfilling future plans and programs of TAAN such as construction of porter shelter at Manaslu region, exploring various new trekking trails etc. Speaking in the ceremony, Ms. Pamfa Dhamal expressed her commitment to work jointly with private sector for development of mountain tourism. Mr. Poudel also assured TAAN of his support and stated the need for aggressive marketing, such as organizing travel fair and sales mission to bring in maximum number of tourists to Nepal.
NTB Board Members Deepak Mahat and Awadhesh Kumar Das along with TAAN executive members including Mr. Gopal Shrestha CEO of Higher Limits Trek & Expedition also were present in the program.
