Today Hindu women across the world marks their major festival “Teej”
Teej is one of the colorful festivals that is celebrated by all the Nepali Hindi women all over the world, and it is also known as ‘Hartalika Teej’. It is usually celebrated by the girls and women by singing and dancing, wearing red, green and yellow attire, jewellery and many others, with colored henna hands and legs. Teej festival is devoted to goddess Parvati goddess and even to her reunion with Lord Shiva, when Lord Shiva accepts Parvati as his wife.
Teej festival is observed for the well-being of the family, children and purification of one’s body and spirit. This festival consists of three days of celebration, combining the magnificent feasts and the rigid fasting. fIt is celebrated for the long life of her husband as well for their long-term relationship in their future life span . Folk music, dances and women’s red clothing attach more aroma to the traditional values of Teej.
