Ganga Jamuna Trekking - 16 Days

Ganga Jamuna trekking is less visited and newly introduced trek in Nepal. This is a moderate trek. In this Trek you will have a chance to see Nepali lifestyle, culture and tradition of local folks. You will be passing different villages where you can interrelate with the different ethnic groups such as Newar, Tamang, Gurung, Brahmin, Chhetri and few others of Nepal. The trail offers you a peek observation of the culture and unaffected tradition of these people. The mountain peaks you can see are Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, Manaslu Range, Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli, Annapurna Range and many other unnamed mountains and peaks.

While trekking in this region you will find the trail is enriched with beautiful flora and fauna. You pass rhododendron, pine forests with other natural vegetation. These forests are home of diverse species of birds and wild animals.

Ganga Jamuna trek offers you a visit to Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site as well. Hindu devotees offer special prayer and animal sacrifices to the deity. Another attraction of this trek is that you will visit Ganga Jamuna Temple which is a twin waterfall. Ganga Jamuna is Hindu pilgrimage site where a famous fair is held around the temple before three days of full moon day during the first week of November. Here is a holy stone which is highly respected by the Hindu devotees and local people. It is believed that this holy stone preserves the divine power as water originates from there.

You will require two passport size photos.

Day 01: Arrive pick up and transfer to your hotel:

Day 02: Sight – seeing of Kathmandu:
Depart for full day sightseeing in Kathmandu valley includes the Hindu temple complex at Pashupatinath (a UNESCO world heritage site) & the biggest Buddhist Stupa at Boudhanath. Also visit Monkey Temple the Swyambhunath (2000 years old temple) and visit Patan city of fine arts. Back to hotel and stay.

Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Samari Bhanjyang (1250m.)
Via Trishuli Bazaar (540m.) by bus. Start our journey after breakfast it will be about 7-hours drive to the hill town of Trishuli Bazaar. En route you pass through Trisuli Bazaar, a small town that was once the center for trekking in this region and is home to a small but interesting traditional bazaar. From here you travel through gravel road until you reach Samari Bhanjyang with scenic drive of rice terraces, small gorges and green hills. Samari Bhanjyang is a small town and it was a trading place in the past.

Day 04: Samari Bhanjyang to Katunje Bazaar (765m.)
This takes about six and half hours. In the beginning you trek along gradual descent path and then your trail turns uphill. Finally you trek through flat land to reach your destination. En route you pass different villages, forests covered with pine and rhododendron, farming terraces, small streams and numerous green hills. There is a small market in Katunje and you can have first sight of Ganesh Himal and others surrounding mountains from here.

Day 05: Katunje Bazaar to Kintang Phedi (655m)
After breakfast Start our journey first part of the trek goes downhill till Lapang Besi and from here trail leads along the river bank before reaching Kintang Phedi. This is ideal campsite lies at the bank of River bank, beautiful views of local villages and terraced rice fields.

Day 06: Kintang Phedi to Jharlang (1500m):
Today the trek climbs through several villages, farming terraces and green hills. These villages are predominated by Tamang, Brahmin and Chhetris respectively. Maize, millet, rice, wheat, buck wheat and green vegetable are their staple food. Jharlang is a typical Tamang village with it. You will have an opportunity to see numerous typical houses.

Day 07: Jharlang to Laba (1750m.)
Today the trek will be more interesting and the trail pass different typical villages, small gorges, small forests, farming terraces and green hills. Laba is another village which you encounter in this trek. It is inhabited by both Tamang and Gurung. You can observe the typical culture practiced by these ethnic communities. They speak their own language. The visitors can taste their traditional food and local alcoholic drink (chhyang). This trekking route is enriched with separate culture and unaffected tradition of ethnic groups like Tamang and Gurung.

Day 08: Laba to Manyang Bhanjyang (2934m.)
Today we will trek through stunning rhododendron and pine forests. These forests are the home of different species of birds and wild animals. The trail moves up hill all the way to manyang Bhanjyang. From here you can see the first glimpse of Ganesh Himal Manyang Bhanjyang is a ridge and you find forests and grass land here. This is a wonderful place for camping as your camping site is surrounded by rhododendron and oak forests.

Day 09: Manyang Bhanjyang to Majhgaun (2200m.)
Working through forests of rhododendron and oak, villages, farming terraces and green hills. Today you will have a chance to see mountains views of Manaslu range, Buddha peak on a clear weather and other unnamed mountains and peaks.

Day 10: Majhgaun to Ganga Jamuna (3244m.)
Today we will trek down to Ganga Jamuna. This is a Hindu pilgrimage site where a famous fair is held around the temple before three days of full moon day during the first week of November. Many Hindu devotees crowd this holy site for worship and blessing. This place is ideal for camping. The panoramic views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, Manaslu range, Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli, Annapurna range.

Day 11: Rest day at Ganga Jamuna.
This day you can hike to the top of Ganga Jamuna and can enjoy the stunning views of Langtang range, Ganesh Himal, Shringi Himal, Manaslu range, Lamjung Himal, Himalchuli, Annapurna range and many other unnamed mountains and peaks. On the way you cross dense forests of rhododendron and other natural vegetation.

Day 12: Ganga Jamuna to Budhathum(1100m.)
Trek from Ganga Jamuna to Budhathum completely going downhill it takes about six hours. You walk along the trail dominated with villages, forests, streams and terraces. This day you can enjoy the scenic beauty of green hills. Budhathum is a small town with local old market and high school, health post etc where you can even find internet facility, and people have been built hydro power by their local community. This village is pre dominated by Newar community. From here you can enjoy the fabulous views of Manaslu range at far distance.

Day 13: Trek from Budhathum to Aarughat Bazzar (500m.)
This takes about two hours to reach Arughat Bazaar this day we can start our trek bit late because today our distance is not very far. You trek descent path and then through leveled route. On the way, you pass few streams, villages, farming terraces, small forests. Most of the route moves along the river bank of Budhi Gandaki. Aarughat Bazaar covers small area with an old market. Here, you find shops with minimal supply, motor able road, high school, health post, typical tea houses, small lodges and it lies at the bank of Budhi Gandaki River. Here, the route to Manaslu trekking meets.  Stay overnight in Beautiful Aarughat.

Day 14: Aarughat Bazaar to Kathmandu:
We board vehicle at Arughat Bazaar to reach Kathmandu which is takes about 8hours. This is one of the picturesque journeys. While driving, you head up to Dhading Besi and Malekhu and Malekhu is famous for delicious fish. En route, you could enjoy the mountain views, green sceneries, rice terrace fields, vegetable fields and people being engaged in their daily life activities. From Naubishe you climb up to Thankot, the gateway to capital city overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Free day in Kathmandu:
This day you can do shopping or looking around Kathmandu and evening after refreshing yourselves, we take you to a famous Nepali kitchen at dusk for a delicious Nepali meal. While enjoying your meal, you will be entertained to a scintillating local cultural dance performed by the local belles. This is a complimentary farewell dinner provided by Higher Limits Treks & Expedition for the good welfare & good relationship developed over the weeks for our honored guests. Overnight at your hotel.
